Challenge

Performance Designed Products (PDP) is an industry leader in designing and manufacturing accessories for all major video game platforms. When they came to us for help spreading the word about their new partnership with Energizer, we knew that was an easy home run. Then they dropped the bomb - they also wanted to launch an innovative new product during the über-competitive holiday season into an already crowded video game accessory market.

The product was cool. It featured a special rechargeable battery pack and base that allows for charging and storage of controllers for your Wii, Xbox 360 and PS3. What did we say to the challenge? "We got this," of course!

We knew we had to create product awareness, but more importantly they had a lot of units to move. Successfully leveraging the Energizer brand was easy, but we had to do this while not cannibalizing their core product line, traditional batteries, while touting the benefits of this product.

Our goal was to combine more affordable public relations, social media, non-traditional, guerilla and online tactics along with traditional paid media to reach a national audience with enough impact to drive sales.

Results

The results were swift and astounding. During the course of the campaign, over 150,000,000 online and interactive impressions were garnered, and accounted for 87% of all new website visits. More than 30,000 unique visitors were sent to the landing page. Most importantly, the client realized 150% sell through, and sold over 600,000 total units.
